Note: Information comes from a article, "Caskey Cousins", written by Wayne Caskey. Martin was born in the Glass House across the Delaware River from Sparrow Bush, NY. Martin enlisted as a Private in Company H, 3rd regiment, NY in the Infantry. The Armed Forces of the Civil War. Personal description at time of enlistment: 5'9", light complexion, blue eyes, dark brown hair; occupation was Laborer/Teamster. He also had a small scar on his left ankle from when a wagon ran over him. Honorable discharge. Increase of pension was approved 18 Jul 1925. After the Civil War in 1867, Martin and brothers, John & Munson, left Orange Co., NY and moved to McKean & Elk Counties of Pennsylvania. Martin lived most of his life in Smethport, McKean Co., PA. When Martin left the Service he resided in Sparrow Bush for 2-3 years. He than resided in Wilcox, PA from about 1868 to 1875/76. He than lived his life out in McKean Co., PA.
