a. Note:   On Munson's Baptism record there are a few errors: Edward Monson should be Munson Edmund Caskey. His father is Wilhelmus Hermes Caskey and mother is Mary Anna (although there are discrepancies about her name) not Elizabeth. Munson was not born in PA but in Sparrow Bush, Orange Co., NY. His birth date is 14 Mar 1850 not 1949. At some point in Munson's life he changed his name to Edward. I am not sure if it was a legal change or not. I have come across many different spellings of his name. I do know he was born with the name, Munson Edmund and that is how I will refer to him until I find proof of legal documentation of a name change. On a death correction statement made by Wayne Caskey, 9 May 1977, file # 101558-40, Commonwealth of PA, his name at death is Munson (Edmund) Caskey being the correct and Edward Caskey not being the correct. Also on this correction statement his birth date is changed from 14 Mar 1855 to 14 Mar 1850. It states his death as being 3 Nov 1940 in Benzinger Twp., Elk Co., PA. AGED ST. MARYS RESIDENT DIED EARLY SUNDAY: Edward M. Caskey, 85, a resident of St. Marys for the past 66 years died here yesterday morning at six o'clock. The aged man, who was born in Orange Co., NY came here as a lumberman and made his home in this city ever since. He has been retired for many years. Death was attributed to complications. His wife died here 17 years ago and one son, William, and one daughter, Sarah, have also preceded their father in death. The deceased is survived by four sons, George, Edward, Joseph & Henry, and six daughters, Emma, Mrs. George Herbstritt; Julia, Mrs. Benjamin Vollmer; Margaret, Mrs. Joseph Selle; Clara, Mrs. Frank Leithner; Katherine, Mrs. Frank Cheatle; and Miss Anna Caskey, all of St. Marys. He is also survived by 69 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held tomorrow (Tuesday) morning in St. Mary's Church at nine o'clock requiem mass and interment will follow in the Parish cemetery. The remains may be viewed at the Meisel Funeral Home. ASHAMED OF THEIR FATHER: Newspaper Article-29 Jun 1897: Edward M. Caskey of Benzinger Twp., was taken to Ridgway Saturday night and placed in the county jail. Mr. Caskey was given a hearing before Justice of the Peace, Chas. McVean, on a charge of Adultery, and as he could not furnish $500 bail for his appearance at court, he was committed. He is a married man and the father of eleven children.
