Notes
a. Note:   Robert's father is assumed to be what has been cited. Further evidence is being collected.
Robert is believed to be Patrick's half-brother. Patrick listed is believed to have been born in Ireland with his father's first wife who either died in Ireland or Canada. If he is from Patrick Reardon SR then he came to Illinois probably with sisters Johanna and Anna who show up living with brother Patrick in the 1870 census. Robert was married by then. My Robert named his daughter Mary Johanna possibly after his sisters Mary and Johanna. The 1851 and 1861 New Brunswick census shows Robert with Johanna and Anna and other family members. On the 1870 census in Illinois, Johanna and Anna are listed as being born in New Brunswick also.
His and wife's name come from daughter Mary's death certificate which also states she was born in Channahon.
1870 census shows Robert, Catherine and William (5 mo) living in Channahon Twp, Will County, IL. He is shown as being a farmer and born in New Brunswick.
1880 census shows family still in Channahon Twp. with last name possibly misspelled to Reardun. Children William, Mary and Elizabeth at school. Servant James Connors (55).
According to Kathleen Callan (daughter to Margaret Reardon Crawford), James Reardon told her that his father abandoned the family after he could not make a go of the farm in Channahon. His last memory of his father was watching him walk down the lane away from their home. James was very young at the time. He said his sister Mary married to get the younger children out of an orphanage they all ended up in. James would get disciplined because he wet the bed. Unknown at this time when Catharine died and how children ended up in orphanage and where.
