Sussex Vale (Kings Co.) Friday 18th inst., Patrick Reardon, age 82, formerly of Queenstown, Co. Cork, Ireland and for last 42 years a resident of this Province, left widow, family.
Information received from Margaret Walton of Canada who is a decendant of Patrick from family letters.
Here's the letter I mentioned earlier from my great-uncle Frederick Reardon [Missoula] to his mother Margaret [Ryan] Reardon in Sussex, NB written in either 1910 or 1920 - I can't make out the date but could later probably figure it out based on when 2 of the relatives mentioned near the end of the letter [Frank and Teresa] were in Boston..
"...I wrote you about hearing from Aunt Jonnah. Well, I heard from her today again. She says that her brother Patrick came back to NB in 1864 & that his wife was dead & he brought her and her sister Hyacinth back with him to Joliet, Ill and that she kept house for him until she was married in 1876 and she moved to Minn in 1877. Aunt Jane kept house for Patrick then until 1893 when he died and she married Thomas Whalen - she said I must know of the Whalens, etc.
She says that Hannah Decoursey Margaret's oldest daughter is living in Chicago and her name is Crolley and that Aunt Jane is living in Brighton, Colorado.
She also said that her sister Hyacinth [Mrs MaLone] lives in Neb. and that she was to see her last fall on her way east and that is when she saw Frank and Teresa in Boston [and that is how they heard we were in Mont] and wrote to her just before Christmas about us and that was when she sent the [ ]. She spoke of Hyacinth having a son in Idaho and supposed that we already heard from sister Hyacinth & that if we hadn't we would soon...
