Note: November 8, 1998 - Talk with Lura Mardis Hall at her home.....Lura lived in Vinemont where she met and married Leonard Hall. For the first two or so years of their married lives they lived with the rest of the Hall family in a tent. Lura stated that she was somewhat surprised when arriving the day after her marriage and realizing that they would all be in one tent. At the time of her marriage the Hall family was at a sawmill around Brushy Pond, Alabama. After several years Lura and Leonard bought a farm in Vinemont where they lived for a number of years. They then purchased Lura's present home from Marvin and Inez Hall around 1950. The cost for the house and 20 acres of land was $2,000. From the sale of their other farm and savings they were able to pay all but $500 of the cost. They raised broiler chickens for four or five years to get the money to finish paying for their property. From The Cullman Times, 11 May 1988 - Leonard Walter Hall, 79 - Services for Leonard Walter Hall, 79, of Rt. 7, Box 1800, Cullman, will be held at 2 p.m. today at Fairview Methodist Church with interment in the adjoining cemetery, Higdon Funeral Home directing. Mr. Hall died Monday at Woodland Community Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Lura Evelyn Hall; four sons, Walter, James, William and Roger Hall; two daughters, Nevada Quick and Jeanetta Holecomb; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
