Note: Vannie graduated from Farmington Normal School (as it was known then) in Farmington, Maine. She taught in several places before coming to Sanford, Maine. She taught there until her marriage in 1928. When she was widowed in 1931, she returned to teaching in Sanford where she taught in second and third grades until her retirement in 1955. After she retired, she worked as a Nurse's Aide in a private nursing home in Port Chester, New York for several years. . She then made her home with her brother Ralph in South Portland, Maine and later with her daughter in Canastota, New York.
