Notes
a. Note:   The initial source for this family was a family group sheet compiled by Dorothy D. Hall, (now deceased). Her sources: Vital records of Rochester; "Certain Comeoverers" by H. H. Crapo; "Desc. of Pierre Crapo" by G. Randall. There are other sheets in the holdings of the Davenport Family Organization. One is on a very early form and has no compiler and no sources but has "Name of Heir, Charles C. Crapo, 3rd gg son. Another was on a later form and was compiled by Mrs. Corria Montierth (now deceased). Her source: Rochester Vitals V. 1 p. 94, 95, 96, V. 2. p. 94, 95. Still another was compiled by Mrs. Frank Howard Nelson of Mercer Island, Wash., sources: New England States by Davis p. 2141; Rochester Vital Records Vol. 1 p. 96, marriages p. 94; "Certain Comeovers" by H. H. Crapo Vol. 1 p. 89; Dartmouth Marriages p. 138 and 531. There is also a family group sheet in the FGRA collection of the Family History Library in Salt Lake City which was submitted by the Gen. Soc. of Utah for Herbert C. Crapo of Cardston, Canada (now deceased). The sources were Rochester Vital Records and "Certain Comeoverers" by H.H. Crapo. There were some differences in all the sheets but they were mostly marriages and death dates which were on Dorothy's sheet but not on the FGRA sheet. Also, the FGRA sheet did not have the last child, John. This John is mentioned in "Certain Comeoverers" as having received land from his father in 1779. He is also in "Desc of Pierre...", and in "The William White Family", found in vol. 1 of "Mayflower Families Through Five Generations", published 1975 by the General Society of Mayflower Descendants. BIRTH: Vital records of Rochester MARRIAGE: Vital records of Rochester DEATH: "The William White Family", found in vol. 1 of "Mayflower Families...", which says the latest record found for him in land records of Plymouth County was dated 16 May 1783 when he acknowledged a deed. There is much less about John Crapo in the book "Certain Comeoverers" than about his father, Pierre, and his son, Peter. It says his wife, Sarah Clark, was the daughter of a neighbor. Further it says "In 1739 his father Peter conveyed to him twenty acres 'by the orchard of Joseph Ashley' near Peter's Sniptuit holdings. It was here perhaps that he lived. In 1743 his father deeded to him additional land. In 1744 he purchased a large tract in the 'gore'. The consideration was 150 pounds. He is described in this deed as a 'husbandman'. I am of the impression that I somewhere found him described as a 'blacksmith', but I am unable to verify the statement. "In 1762 he and his brothers, Peter and Hezekiah, made a partition of the land which they received as residuary legatees under their father's will, and to John was given the land which the first Peter purchased of Ebenezer Lewis not far from the Pond. There are several other records of land transfers to and from him. "He was living in 1779 when he conveyed most of his lands to his son John, junior, having doubtless given his other sons their shares by helping them establish the lumber business in Freetown." "The William White Family", found in "Mayflower Families...", says he died after 16 May 1783 when he acknowledged a deed. Among references given were Plymouth Co.
