She handled all the paper work in the regular daily business including the payroll and held the position of secretary at board meetings. The Company met upon hard times during the depression years due to very few people having the money for building homes or remodeling existing ones. The Barber Millwork Company filed for bankruptcy in the midst of the depression years. Muriel then worked at a local bank throughout most of the remaining years of the depression, after which she did the bookkeeping for her husband, Ira F. Corp's fuel oil delivery business. When her husband suffered a stroke in his senior years, Muriel took care of him until he passed away. Muriel and Ira Corp lived all their married life in Mechanicville, NY with a view of the Hudson River.
