Brownell and Samuel King, in the northweste rn part of the townshi p. VILLAGES AND POST OFFICES Little Marsh, so named from a small marsh a bo ut two miles northwest, up the Crooked Creek valley, is situated nor th a nd east of the geographical center of the township. The first settle rs up on its site were Rensselaer Toles and Robert Hill. Toles settled bel ow a nd Hill above the creek bridge within the village. (Jeremiah) Boucher Source: http://www.rootsweb.com/~srgp/clippings/tcobt246.htm Mr. Burdick Hill Sudden death.--We learn that Mr. Burdick Hill, an old and highly respect ab le resident of Chatham in this county, dropped down dead in the hay f ie ld on Monday, 6th inst. He had been in poor health for a number of ye ar s, but a few hours previous to his death remarked to his family th at he h ad not felt so much like work for years. He repaired to the harve st fiel d, and having mowed a few rods, put down his scythe and commenc ed raking g rain. In a few moments thereafter he was seen to fall, and li fe was extin ct when help arrived. A post-mortem examination disclos ed an enlargeme nt of the heart on one side, and a reduction of the muscul ar tissue to t he thinness of brown paper.
