Davis Died last Saturday, March 1, 1941, at 8:30pm, at home of his daughter, Mrs Jay H. Smith in West Main St. where he had been cared for during his last illness, following a paralytic stroke. He was born at Brookfield, PA , August 20, 1853, the son of Joseph and Fanny Chase Davis and was the sole survivor of a family of 10 children. He was married March 4, 1875 to Miss Addie Bean of West Union who preceded him in death in Oct 1930. surviving him is the daughter, Mrs Jay Smith, and 2 sons: Arch J. Davis of Whitesville and Frank H. Davis of Raymond, PA,, 13 grandchildren and 44 gr-grandchildren, also many nieces and nephews. Farewell services were held from the Whitesville Methodist Church, Tuesday, March 4 at 3 pm with Rev. Harold E. Blish officiating and Fred Wildman directing. Burial in the family plot in the Raymond, Pa Cemetery. The day of his burial would have been the 66th anniversary of his marriage.
