BADGERO, merchant, Mills, was born at Loon Lake, Steuben Co ., N. Y ., June 21, 1847, a son of Francis and Electa L. (Thompkins) Badge ro, w ho settled in Harrison township, Potter Co., Penn., in 1854. His fat her w as a native of Livingston county, N. Y., and a carpenter by trade; w as rea red in his native county, and when four years of age became partial ly bli nd from cataracts. He erected many prominent cottages and buildin gs in Liv ingston and Ontario counties, N. Y., which were marvels to tho se who kn ew him and of his affliction. He was for many years a reside nt of Steub en county, N. Y., but has been a resident of Harrison townshi p. Potter Co ., Penn., since 18,54, where he worked at his trade more or l ess up to 188 4, and is now conducting a small farm. Though of slight bui ld and weighi ng but l36 pounds, he has performed some wonderful fea ts of strength, at o ne time lifting 2,200 pounds dead weight, on a wag er of $100, winning t he money. He has two children : F. P. and Mary (Mr s. John Blanchard ) a mu sic teacher. F. P. Badgero was reared in Harris on township from the a ge of seven years. He worked with his father f or a number years at the car penter's trade, and is a natural born mechani c. He has conducted a gener al store at Mills since l885, and has also be en engaged in farming, owni ng a farm of 200 acres adjoining his father' s. He has been married twic e. His first wife was Adelaide, daughter of Ba rber and Sarah (English) Phi llips, by whom he has three children livin g: Theresa (Mrs. John Beaubien ), Eva and Clara. His present wife is Laur a, daughter of Philip and Elizab eth (Boucher) Sanders. of W est Unio n, N. Y. They have two children: Lau ra M. and Edna E. Mr. Badgero is a me mber of the I. O. O. F.
