a. Note:   Sometime about 1893, Nellie and her brother John spent a few years at the Chicago Orphan Asylum located at 2228 Michigan Ave, Chicago Ill. I have a letter dated May 1893 from her brother written to mother Alice and he says that Nellie is there with him.
  It was Nellie who was very instrumental in later years and took charge of the Kavanagh children who were placed into Marysville Training Academy. I have heard nothing but great things about Nellie.
  Mary Ellen Barden nee: Berry has a fantastic picture of Nellie. Nellie went down to Murphysboro, Jackson Co. Ill on vacation one time to see her uncle John Simeon Berry and that is when the picture was taken.
