Note: The Howard Courant-Citizen, Howard, Kansas May 29, 1947 Mr. and Mrs. Earl Morgan and two children of Wichita and Frank H. Adrian and daughter, Zelda Ferne, of El Dorado spent last week end in Howard visiting their home folks, Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Morgan. Mrs. Earl Morgan remained this week to be with Mrs. B. M. Morgan, who has been ill, and Mrs. Adrian, who had been here for a week with her mother, accompanied her family home. The Howard Courant Citizen, Thursday, January 21, 1971 OBITUARY -- CHLOE R. MORGAN Chloe Richardson, daughter of Henry and Julia Burgess Richardson, was born near DeWitt, Nebraska, October 21, 1881, and departed this life at Howard Twilight Manor nursing home, January 11, 1971. She moved with her parents, brothers and sisters to Elk County, Kansas, in 1899, where they made their home in the Cresco community, north of Howard. She was married to a neighbor boy, Bert Morgan, at Eureka, Kansas, June 30, 1903, and they came to Howard, where they lived their entire married life. To this union was born three children, Margaret, Earl and Gladys. Mr. Morgan was a rural mail carrier. He died in February, 1956. Mrs. Morgan was a member of the Howard Baptist Church and the Dorcas Sunday School Class. She is survived by her son, Earl Morgan, and wife, Dorothy, Valley Center, Kansas; her daughter, Gladys Shoffner, and husband, Robert, St. Paul, Minnesota, and her daughter, Margaret Adrian, of the home; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four brothers, Walter of near Kansas City, Missouri; Henry of Lewisburg; Orvel of Piedmont, and Jesse of Howard; two sisters, Elsie Shumard, Lincoln, Nebraska, and Ida Babb of Hazelton, besides many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Frank Adrian; a granddaughter, Zelda Ferne Adrian; five brothers and four sisters. Services were held in the chapel of the Spurrier Funeral Home, Howard, on Thursday, January 14, at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Roy L. Brown, pastor of the Howard United Methodist Church, officiated. Music was presented by Cathy Davis, accompanied by Velette Smith. Casket bearers were Adron Hebb, Harvey VanBuskirk, Elwood Miller, George B. Ellis, Willis H. Miller and Robert Perrigo. Concluding services and burial were in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Howard.
