Note: The Howard Courant-Citizen, Howard, Elk County, Kansas, Thursday, September 11, 1969 Mrs. Jesse Richardson returned home Wednesday morning of last week from Dallas, Texas, where she had been visiting and caring for her grandsons while her daughter, Mrs. Lee Lazarus, attended an adult counselor conference. Mrs. Lazarus is an adult counselor for the adult schools of Dallas, Texas. She also teaches basic education four hours a day at an adult education school She feels it quite rewarding to see these adults graduate and get jobs in society. Mr. and Mrs. Lazarus and sons, Mark and Dan, and Mrs. Richardson left Friday evening for a camping and sightseeing trip. The camped at Sam Houston Forest, in a stubble field camping ground near Huntsville, Texas. Saturday morning they went to Galveston, to the coast, where they took a ferry across to Port Bolivar. They saw the Sea-Aroma Marine World and Mamuk, the killer whale, at Porpoise Stadium. They are building a large Oceanarium just for Mamuk, the whale, as the water is too warm for him and he doesn't perform so well and he isn't safe to be around. The water is just the right temperature for the flying whales and sea lions. The group returned to Dallas, Monday evening. The Howard Courant-Citizen, Howard, Elk County, Kansas, Thursday, December 17, 1953 Mr. and Mrs. Jess Richardson and Beverly visited in Latham last Sunday with Mrs. Richardson's brother, W. L. Oliver, and family and especially to be Richard Oliver, who had just returned home from service in Korea. Mr. and Mrs. J. Y. Gaily and daughter of El Dorado were also guests at the Oliver home. OBITUARY--Wichita Eagle, Monday, November 25, 2002 Richardson, Edith M. (Oliver), 95, homemaker, died Friday, Nov. 22, 2002. Service 11 a.m. Tuesday, Zimmerman Funeral Home. Survivors: grandchildren, Mark Lazarus of Corinth, Texas, Daniel Lazarus of Grapevine, Texas; two great- grandchildren. Memorial established with Howard United Methodist Church. OBITUARY, Winfield Daily Courier, Monday, November 25, 2002 Edith Richardson--HOWARD Edith Mary Richardson, 95, longtime resident of Howard, died Nov. 22, 2002, at the Howard Twilight Manor. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Zimmerman Funeral Home. The Rev. Julie Shields will officiate. Burial will be in Cresco Cemetery north of Howard. A memorial has been established with the Howard United Methodist Church. Contributions may be left at the funeral home. Richardson was born Feb. 23, 1907, on a farm north of Howard, to Mary Edith (Miller) and John Charles Oliver. The family moved to Missouri when she was an infant. She began school there before returning to Kansas and attending Cresco, Antioch and Fiat rural schools in the Elk County area. On Jan. 23, 1924, she married Jesse E. Richardson in Howard. They owned and operated a farm west of Howard for many years. Her daughter, Beverly Ann (Richardson) Lazarus, died Feb. 17, 1974, and her husband died Jan. 9, 1988. A homemaker, Richardson was active in the Elk County Extension Council and taught classes in canning and preserving food. She served as a 4-H leader and worked many years for the Howard Fair Association. She was a longtime member of the Howard United Methodist Church. Survivors include her grandsons, Mark Lazarus, Corinth, Texas, and Daniel Lazarus, Grapevine, Texas; and two great-granddaughters.
