E. Burgess celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at their home southeast of DeWitt Friday afternoon, March 31, many old friends participating. Amid beautiful decorations the elderly couple were led to the altar by their little granddaughter, Beulah Rose Burgess as flower girl, and went through another wedding ceremony, their old friend, Rev. Sam Brolliar, officiating, after which they received the congratulations and many gifts, a leather couch, several pieces of gold, many other gifts, an oak library table from the children. Many of the early settlers being present, Mrs. Gast, 84 years, being the oldest. Mr. & Mrs. Burgess came to their present residence in 1872. They have three children, four grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.
