He has received his discharge and will visit with his home folks, the Homer Armstrong family and many friends in this vicinity before hunting a job. Leckliter, Howard OBITUARY --- Flint Hills Express, Wednesday, December 15, 1999 Ralph H. Armstrong, resident of Derby, KS, died Sunday evening, December 12, 1999 at the Prestiege Rehabilitation and Nursing Cemetery, Haysville, KS. He was 79 years of age. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 15, 1999 at the Hillside East Funeral Home located at 935 North Hillside in Wichita. Rev. Dr. Will Glaser of the Haysville United Methodist Church will preside. Interment will be in the El Paso Cemetery of Derby under the direction of Hillside Funeral Homes of Wichita. Ralph H. Armstrong was born July 30, 1920 at Howard, KS. He attended the Howard Public Schools. He served in the United States Army during World War II, participating in the Normandy landing. He was married to Elizabeth Grace Giggy on August 7, 1953 at Newton. Mr. Armstrong was employed for many years with Boeing Aircraft Company as a sheet metal mechanic. He was a 55 year member of the American Legion, Howard, Kansas Chapter. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, of the home; one stepson, Richard Baughman, Derby; two stepdaughters, Judy Hale, Wichita and Ireeta Ubben, Phillipsburg, Kansas; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one stepson, James, one brother, Howard Armstrong, two sisters, Gladys Woods and Florence Friend. Casketbearers will be grandsons, Mike Baughman, Bill Baughman, Richard Ubben, Derek Hale, Matthew Hale and Ron Woods. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Derby, 1410 North Woodlawn, Suite D, Derby, KS 67037.
