The death of John Armstrong, at 8 o'clock Tuesday morning, was a sad surprise to his many friends. Only a few days ago "Uncle Johnny," always so hale and hearty, was taken sick with an acute attack of pneumonia, which led to his death as above stated. The funeral services were conducted from the Cumberland Presbyterian church, of which the deceased was a member at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. The deceased was for years one of the oldest and best known settlers of Jackson county. He lived two miles east on his farm, which he sold a few years ago, preparatory to taking up his residence in this city. He had naught but kind words for everyone. Note: Date of death--December 25, 1888
