Notes
a. Note:   November 19, 2004: The following Information from Olivette Podszus was compiled by Olivette, her sister Viola, their father Fred England and his sister Hazel England. 1. John Frederick was 10 years old when his family came to this country. 2. John Frederick married Christina Shivily. They lived in Naples, Illinois when their only child, Anna Marie Reeder, was born. Christina was 7 years older than Fred. 3. John Frederick Reeder & family moved from Illinois to Missouri in about 1859 when Anna was around 3 years old. 4. In about 1864, John Frederick Reeder bought 40 acres from George Colclasure and that is where the old homestead is, and where Fred England was born. When the Reeders first went to Grundy County they lived in a log house until Anna Marie worked and earned $600.00. They used that to build the house, believed to be five rooms in the beginning. The log house they originally lived in was adequate, but rough. 5. John Frederick Reeder died when Fred England was 11 days old and Anna Marie couldn't go to the funeral. 6. No grave marker for John Frederick Reeder in Honey Creek Cemetery, but he is on the list of people buried there. 7. Directions to the old homestead of John Frederick Reeder: Take highway 65 north out of Chillicothe. When 65 turns west just above Farmersville continue straight north on highway Z. When you get to highway 6 turn left and proceed to county road Y and turn north on it. Honey Creek runs east of Y and the old homestead is between the Creek and Y. Grundy Center is supposed to be on Y...about one half mile to a mile before you get to Grundy Center there is a road you can turn east on. Turn East and pass the 1st house on the north side of the road. When you get within 100 yards of the next house look north about 1/4 mile in the fields and you will see a house in ruins. That is the old homestead that John Frederick Reeder owned. If you turn and go west on this same road you will pass the Old German Cemetery a little over a mile after you cross Z. It is over-grown and on the north side of the road. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Date of Birth calculated from age at date of death. ******************************************************** 1850 Census-need to find Illinois State Census Collection, 1825-1865 Name: F Reeder Census Date: 1855 Residence State: Illinois Residence County: St Clair Residence Township: Township 3 Roll: ILSC_2195 Line: 32 1860 United States Federal Census -- unable to locate them RG 10: Records of the Provost Marshall General's Bureau Enrollment Lists and Corrections, 1863 - 1865. Honey Creek Chapel Cemetery, Grundy County, MO -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This cemetery is in Lincoln Township; S32-T62N-R23W. The church, as well as the Cemetery Association, is active at this time (1964). A good steel mesh fence and gate are there and the grounds are well-kept. Most of the stones are in good repair; however, as is true in most cemeteries, there are many unmarked graves. The cemetery was transcribed in 1964 by Mrs. B. F. Hoover and Mrs. O. L. Livingston.
