a. Note:   After the death of her husband, she continued to live on the farm for some time. When the farm became too much for her to handle she moved to Howard, KS. The Howard Courant-Citizen, Howard, Elk County, Kansas, Thursday, February 5, 1953 OBITUARY--POOLE Florence Donna Ann Royse Poole, daughter of William and Frances Royse, was born August 22, 1868, in Marion County, Iowa. At the age of four, she moved with her family to Elk County, KS. She passed away Monday, February 2, 1953, at her home in Howard, KS. at the age of 84 years, 5 months, and 24 days. In 1888 she was united in marriage to John Franklin Poole, who preceded her in death in the year of 1937. To this union six children were born, three daughters and three sons. She leaves to mourn her passing one daughter, Alice Morris of Howard, KS and three sons, Marion of Portland, Oregon; Arthur of Omaha, Nebraska; and Elbert of Wichita, KS. Two daughters preceded her in death, Rozella Armstrong and Maude Poole. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. As a child she joined the Christian Church. She was a kind and loving wife and mother, and she will be missed by all who know her. Funeral services were held at the Moon Chapel in Howard at 2:00 p.m., February 4, 1953, conducted by Preston Barrett, minister of the Christian Church. "Going Down The Valley" and "Beautiful Isle" were sung by Mrs. Wanda Juaire and Mrs. Preston Barrett, with Mrs. Arthur Cummins, accompanist. Escorts were Frank Simons, Homer Armstrong, Willard Morris, Ralph Armstrong, Chester Morris, and Melvin Friend. Burial was in Cresco Cemetery.
