a. Note:   Mrs. Sarah Barnes was killed instantly Wednesday p.m. about 4:00 o'clock when she was struck by the east bound Santa Fe local one block west of the station. Sarah had been to town, returning home and met a friend, stopped visiting north of the railroad track. While they were visiting the train whistled for the crossing. Sarah made the remark that she would have to hurry if she crossed the track before the train. Trying to cross the track she was struck by the engine thrown about 15 yards down the track. Skull crushed and body badly mangled. Death came instantly. This happened 2 & 1/2 blocks from her home. Her eyesight was failing her and she had became hard of hearing. Due to these facts it is thought she misjudged the distance of the train. She had 8 children. She lived at Gage, Oklahoma. She was 71 years old at the time of her death.
