Friend claimed $80.00 compensation and was awarded $70.00, Henderson having the cost to pay. M. T. Wood and son of Hopedale prosecuted the case and lawyer Berg of Bloomington appeared for Henderson. Rev. Mrs. Storm will be in charge of the services and burial will be in Little Mackinaw cemetery. Mr. Friend died at his home in Minier Sunday evening after having been in failing health for the last two years. He was born in Amanda, Ohio, May 14, 1943, and his marriage to Geneva Wyne took place in Butler, IA., on March 28, 1878. The following children are: Mrs. C. L. Miller, Salem; John Friend, Lexington; Mrs. Charles Friend, Trivola; Mrs. Lilliam Elkins, Peoria, Mike Friend, Bloomington, and Mrs. Eda Riddle of the home. Also surviving are a brother and sister, Miss Minerva Friend, Litchfield, and Henry Friend, Hanna City; also step-brothers, Frank of Mackinaw, and James Friend of California.
