OBITUARY----April 28, 1922 FUNERAL OF MRS. J. FRIEND SUNDAY---Mrs. John Friend of Minier, died at her home in that town yesterday morning following an illness of eleven months, most of which time she had been confined to her bed. Her maiden name was Geneva Wyne and she was born near Minier on May 10, 1863. On March 28, 1878, she was united in marriage to John Friend, who survives her. With the exception of a short time spent in Iowa and Missouri, her entire life has been spent in the vicinity of Minier. There were eight children born to this union as follows: Mrs. Imo Miller of Benton; Riley of Varna; Mrs. Edith Riddle and Mrs. Laura Peek, of Minier; Mrs. Lula Friend, of Farmington; Mrs. Lillie Elkins, of Peoria; and Mike of Normal. One daughter, Anna, is deceased. There are twenty five grandchildren. Mrs. Friend became a member of the Christian church when a young woman and has lived in consistent Christian life. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the house and at 1:30 at the Methodist church, Rev. Strause officiating. The interment will be in the Gaines cemetery.
