In 1856 he moved with his widowed mother to Illinois, settling in the neighborhood of Minier, at which place he resided when death came. August 4, 1861 he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Pine. Seven children were given to them, 3 daughters and four sons, only one of whom is living, a daughter Mrs. Ed Ziegler with whom he spent his last days on earth. The wife and six children having proceeded him to the home beyond. Two sisters and a brother are living to mourn his loss. For a number of years he has been greatly afflicted in body and for nearly five years confined to his bed, suffering at times very severely. Two weeks ago he was baptized into the M. E. Church. He expressed himself ready to go from this world to the home above, confident of the saving grace and presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His time on earth was drawing to a close, disease was doing its effective work, and on Wednesday morning Sept. 12, his probation on earth was ended, and he passed from earth aged 67 years 11 months, and one day.
