Note: Alexander Stahl was born Nov. 16, 1789 in Washington County, Maryland and died July 3, 1847 in Fairfield County, Ohio. Alexander and several of his brothers fought in the War of 1812. He married Magdalena Young Dec. 14, 1813 in Fairfield County. She was the daughter of Christopher Young. Children of Alexander and Magdalena were: *Benjamin Franklin Stahl, born May 1, 1812 in Fairfield Co., Oh and died June 2 1891 in Kossuth, *Des Moines Co., IA *George Washington Stahl born Dec. 12, 1814 in Ross Co., OH and died March 3, 1898 in LaRue, Marion Co., OH *Minerva Stahl, born 1819 in Fairfield Co., OH *Andrew Jackson Stahl, born Aug. 5, 1829 in Fairfield Co., OH and died April 23, 1911 in Woodlawn, Clarke Co., IA *John A Stahl, born Sept. 7, 1832 in Fairfield Co., OH and died June 21, 1889 in Macon Co., ILL. *Alexander Stahl, born before 1841 Alexander Stall, along with several of his brothers, bought in the War of 1812 and received a land warrent for his services. According to his military records, Alexander was a private with Captain Samuel Spangler's Co. Riflemen, Ohio Militia, War of 1812. The Spangle Company was one of 108 companies that made up the 1st Regiment, under Col. Duncan McArthur, 2nd Brigade under Grig. Gen. Robert Lucan and the 4th Division, under Major General Elijah Wadsworth. Alexander served from July 31, 1813 to January 1, 1815. Records show his place of residence as Fairfield County, Ohio. He was discharged at Detroit, Michigan. Alexander received a land warrant for his service.
