On January 7, 1835 he was united in marriage to Ms. Catherine Keller Acre, who still survives the storms of this life. To this happy union, lasting more than sixty-three years, eleven children were born. Miranda, the oldest, died at the age of seven, and the youngest died in infancy. Nine are still living; Benjamin F., Isabella, Mariah, Emma, James M., Laura, Frona, Amanda and Florence. At the age of twenty-nine Father Stahl was converted and joined the Hopewell M.E. church in Fairfield county. Since that time he has lived a consistent and faithful Christian life. He was a member of the first M. E. class formed in RaRue, and has witnessed with joy the growth of God's kingdom in this place. He was a class leader until death gave him a better place in the church triumphant. He was conscious until the end. Calling his loved ones about him he had them sing a song, told them they could go no farther with him now, bid them all good bye, and without a fear, but in the conscious embrace of the Saviour, closed his own eyes and lips and his spirit, after having closed the doors of the old house of earth, winged its flight to the building of God eternal in the heavens. The funeral services were held in the M.E. church Saturday, Marth 5th. They were attended by a host of friends and relatives. Brother J. A. Sutton and Brother Wm. Morris assisted Rev. J. C. Roberts in the service.
