Notes
a. Note:   OBITUARY--CATHERINE KELLER STAHL Catherine Keller Stahl was born in Fairfield County, Ohio, Feb. 22, 1818. In the same county she was married to George W. Stahl, Jan. 20, 1836. They moved to the vicinity of LaRue, in Marion county, in 1864. Here they resided upon a farm until the death of Father Stahl, in 1898. For sixty-two years this worthy couple traveled the pathway of life together. Eleven children came to bless their home. The first and last born died in infancy. The nine grew to mature years and are the following: Isabella, Benjamen, who died in November 1903, Mariah, Emma, James Morrison, Laura, Eufronius, Mary Amanda, and Florence. These eight children, twenty-seven grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren, survive her. Mother Stahl was converted at a camp meeting held in Lancaster, Ohio, when she was ten years of age. After her conversion, she immediately joined the Methodist Episcopal church. She was loyal to the church of her choice for eighty-three years and sickness only, could prevent her attendance upon the services of the sanctuary. She joined the society at LaRue, in 1864, while Rev. Longfellow was pastor. She had been identified with the church work in LaRue, for forty-seven years -- almost a half-century. For some years past the infirmities of age have prevented her attendance upon the services of the church, but many will still remember her testimony of faith in God, declaring with uplifted hands that she never expected to die, but hoped to live forever. This hope, we believe, is now realized, for Christ the Lord has said: "He that believeth in me shall never die." She departed this life at the home of J. D. Myers, near Hepburn, Hardin county, Ohio, March 4, 1911, aged 93 years and 10 days. So the good woman has passed into the heavenly mansions, there to abide forever. Funeral services were held at the M. E. Church on Monday afternoon, March 6, conducted by her pastor, Rev. M.D. Scott, after which burial took place in the LaRue cemetery.
