The deceased was united in marriage to Hiram Craig Royse, in Republic county, Kansas., April 4, 1878. To this union five children were born. They are Mrs. Olive Basquin of Laird, Colo., Mrs. Grace Pearl Benson of Sterling, Mrs. Minnie M. Parish of Daisy, Wash., Frank H. Royse of Napavine, Wash., and Frederick E. Royse, who died in infancy. Mr. Royse passed away at Endicott, August 3, 1887, leaving his wife with four small children to support and educate. This she did, and no sacrifice was too great in order to give them the best training, in her power. She was a kind, affectionate christian mother and neighbor. After her children were grown the deceased married Joseph B. Swallow of Sterling and Mr. Swallow departed this life on September 8, 1919. Since that time the deceased spent three years with her daughter, Mrs. Olive Basquin at Laird and the rest of the time with another daughter, Mrs. Pearl Benson of Sterling. Besides her children she leaves to mourn her departure fifteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, three sisters, four brothers and a host of less near relatives and friends. The funeral services were held at the home at 9:00 o'clock, a.m., July 23, by Rev. W. N. Smitheram of Crab Orchard, and the interment was at Fairbury, beside her infant son and the father of her children.
