Note: James and wife #1 & wife #3 & wife #6 did not have any children together. Wife #2 had 3 children by prior marriage, Scott, Skelley and Robin, that Jim adopted. Wife #6 had 2 boys by prior relationships, Casey & Kevin. OBITUARY--James Tickel Winfield Daily Courier, Winfield, Cowley County, Kansas, Wednesday, September 23, 2009 James Edward Tickel, 60, of Winfield, passed away Sept. 19, 2009, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Miles Funeral Service. Burial will be at 3:30 in the Braman, Okla., Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 9 today, and the family will greet friends during that time. A memorial has been established in Mr. Tickel’s name for the American Heart Association. James was born June 15, 1949, in Blackwell, Okla., to Lyman Beauford and Mae (Burgett) Tickel. He was raised and educated in Braman and graduated from Braman High School in 1967. He attended Oklahoma State University for two years and then attended Tahlequah Community College. James did harvest work on the family farm and worked on oil rigs. He lived on the East Coast while pursuing his musical dreams. He later moved to Wichita. From there, he moved to Winfield. He was employed at Rubbermaid in the setup crew department and was a foam technician. He retired in 2008. James married Teresa Bain on Jan. 29, 1999, in Miami, Okla. He was a member of American Legion Post 10 in Winfield and had served in the National Guard. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brother, Lyman Beauford Tickel Jr. Survivors include his wife, Teresa Tickel, of the home; his sons, Scott James Tickel, Massachusetts, and Andrew James Tickel and fiance Jessica Pike, Matthew Jacob Tickel and wife, Shannon, Casey Glen Bain and Kevin Doss Bain, all of Winfield; his daughters, Skelley, and husband Dave, Swansea, Mass.; Robin, Massachusetts; Erin Shannon St. Laurent, Fall River, Mass., and Jaema Lee Tickel and Chalen Rae Tickel, both of Winfield; his sisters, Wanda Mae Bellew, and husband, Keith, Wichita, Norma Lee Leabo, and husband, Ron, Clearwater, and Glenda Jean Hawkins, and husband, Ralph, Mountain Home, Ark.; and a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
