Note: George Friend always said he wanted to live to be 100 years old, which he did. CENTENARIAN IS HONORED SUNDAY A Resident of Autumn Homes No. 1, Mr. George Friend was honored on his 100th birthday Sunday, June 4, at the nursing home. Mr. Friend was born June 3, 1872, in Clinton, Mo., and has been a resident of Oklahoma 62 years. He has resided at the Autumn Home Since 1969. A large, specially decorated cake was prepared in his honor, and family members present for the occasion were Mr. and Mrs. Vern Friend of Howard, Kan.; Mr. and Mrs. John Havens, Deanna, Mary and Susan, Winfield, Kan.; Mr. and Mrs. Johnie T. Friend, Bartlesville, Roy Friend, Chetopa, Kan.; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Vail and James, Dewey; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Vail, Centralia, George Vail and John Howe; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Miller, Janet, Mickey, Brad and Patti, Nowata; W. P. Friend, Autumn No. 1, and residents of the home. Mr. Friend passed away at the nursing home Tuesday morning, following a long illness. OBITUARY--G. D. FRIEND George D. Friend, 100-year old Centralia resident, died at 7 p.m. Tuesday in a local nursing home after a long illness. He was born June 3, 1872, in Clinton, Mo., and had been a resident of Centralia for 67 years. He was a retired farmer and stockman and a member of the Methodist church at Severy, Kan. Survivors include two brothers, William Friend of Vinita, and Roy Friend, of Rt. 2, Chetopa, Kan., and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Community Church in Centralia with Rev. Cecil O'Dell of Tulsa, officiating. Burial will be in the Welch Cemetery under the direction of the Thomas Funeral Home of Welch. The family will gather at the Donald Vail home at Rt. 1, Centralia. George D.
