a. Note:   Chester Adam Friend was never married. He served his country in World War I as a Military Policeman. In later years, due to diabetes he had part of a leg amputated. He did not have an artificial leg, he used a wheel chair. OBITUARY--Chester A. Friend Dies Here Tuesday Chester A. Friend, 75, died Tuesday night in Craig General Hospital following a long illness. He was born Jan. 11, 1891, in Clinton, Mo. He was a retired farmer and a World War I veteran. He had lived in the Centralia community 57 years. Survivors are two sisters, Miss Addie Friend and Mrs. Flossie Allensworth, both of Centralia, and four brothers, George and Charlie, both of Centralia, Willie, Vinita, and Roy, Welch. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Centralia Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Welch cemetery under direction of the Luginbuel Funeral Home.
