a. Note:   [] No proof on this family as of 7/94. Familly history is that Elias was the father of P.H. Leffew. The other children are listed because they were in Grainger co., TN. at the same time! Most likely they are the children of Elias but need proof of this entire family. Needs Census work. Descendant Sherry Leffew Stephens told Steven Alsip that her father told her "The name was originally Lefew and they were from the Black Forest area of Germany. Also, "He was French and he married a Cherokee Chief's Daughter". Was this supposed to be Elias? 1994 All above info was given by Steven Alsip in July 1994
