a. Note:   Clarice McDermand has her birth place as Wickolina, Schugart, Falkenburg, Upper Silesia, Prussia. We have her photograph. She died in Nebraska. A search of the 1885 Nebraska census for Gage county did not show any Hanke names. Later census work showed that she was living with her son, Fred, in Beatrice (1900 Fed. Census) and we have a slide of her grave stone in the Evergreen Home cemetery in Beatrice. (1996)
