Note: [Family File] Ila Angell married John Luther Monroe Wagner the son of Moses Wagoner. She talked to her father -in-law about his family. He told her his brother James went away to the Civil War and was never heard from again. He said the family never got over losing the youngest son. He was much loved by the family. James enlisted in the Confederate Army at age 21 at Camp Holmes near Raleigh NC on Oct. 14, 1862 for the duration of the war. Reported present for duty as a private in February.. 1863. He deserted on an unspecified date. Court Martial on or about July 20, 1863, no further records. It is possible he was executed for war time desertion.[Family File.FTW]
