Note: William Coffey was a Day Laborer; he was in the Civil War 107th IL Infantry res: Roberts IL (Ford Co) at time of enlistment. William Coffey is buried with his 2nd wife, Emma Luverna Mesler. William Coffey's father was from NY, his mother from VT. (Note that William L Knickerbocker also served in the 107th IL) ML note: ....The Coffey's moved around a lot too. They were in Washtenaw County, Marion County, Livingston County, Montcalm County, Isabella County, Michigan. Then Wager Arkansas, Kansas, and then back to Allegan County, Michigan. Both William and his second wife, Emma are buried in the Diamond Springs Cemetery in Allegan County.....William had a sister Eliza, who married a Joseph Doty in Cass County Michigan. They lived in South Bend Indiana, McDonough County Illinois, Missouri, Jackson Iowa, Tipton Kansas, and Okalahoma. I wonder if the Coffeys and the Knickerbockers visited each other while they were out west.
