Note: From Rob Graham:Grmgraham6@@aol.com <Grmgraham6@@aol.com> This is a simple story here which I will turn into a convoluted mess. Have you heard from my other cousin Beth Maxwell? Her gr-grandfather and Becky's gr-grandfather and my gr-grandfather were brothers. Remember my Aunt Susan's letter where she talked about Margaret and Catherine having a sister named Sarah that married Boney Fogle? Beth and Becky and another woman named Colleen were trying to figure out just who Boney Fogle was and found this about Sarah Rainer and George Washington Fogle and wondered if George Washington was Boney. Boney is Jerome Fogle. He and Sarah were living in Caldwell in 1900. Sarah is a widow in 1910. Jerome died I think in 1909. You found the right Sarah in 1920 with her mother, Martha Gerles living with her. Anyway, about Beth. I will probably butcher this up but good but her gr-gr- grandparents were Luther Fogle and Eliza Jane Davis of Noble County. You two might have some Davis connections. I live in Vandalia, Ohio, just north but not far enough north of Dayton. Becky lives in Texas. Did you get information about Robert Graham and Mahala Riley, the parents of Charles Valentine from Becky? She has a ton of stuff on the Grahams. She has all the descendants and who they married and all their kids. She has tracked them all down like a bloodhound. I, on the other hand merely look like a bloodhound. Take a look at these two submissions and see what you think. Hello again. Yes you have the right Graham family. Charles V. Graham and Margaret Rainer / Raynor and 80 other variations are my gr-grandparents. Their son Robert Samuel " Sam " was my grandfather. They also had a daughter, Mary Susan " Susan " who wrote a letter to my dad in 1979 in which she talks a little about her mother's family. " Mother's - Grandmother's ( Martha Miller ) first husband was James Rainer. He was killed in the Civil War, then she married Joseph Fitz Gerald. ( could also be spelled Jerles ) They lived in Sarahsville where he was mayor for several years. He died in Sarahsville but I don't know his age. He is probably buried there. Grandmother came and stayed with mother. She was 91 years old when she died and of course she was buried in Sarahsville. She lived with Aunt Sarah when she died here at Caldwell. I will write to Frances ( Sarah's daughter ) and see if I can find out any more. I wasn't very old when she stayed with mom. Mother also had several sisters but I don't know their ages or where they died; Aunt Nancy Rainer married to Fred Archer. Aunt Kathern married to Uncle Neal Davis. I will see their nephew soon as the weather gets settled down. He lives just below us. ( in Caldwell, Noble County, Ohio ) Aunt Sarah Rainer married Boney ( Jerome ) Fogle. Mother, Margaret Rainer married Charles Valentine Graham. 1/2 sister Aunt Mary Fitz Gerald, married .. Rucker. 1/2 brother Melroy Fitz Gerald married, don't know her name. I will try and find out more about mother's folk's as they most of them lived around Caldwell. Give me a day or so and I'll send you more on the Grahams. Isent your submission to the Ancestry World Tree Project to a couple of Graham cousins. One is related to the Fogles and Davis's. You'll probably be hearing from one or both of them. The one daughter of Charles and Margaret Graham, Martha, was born in 1881. According to Noble Co. records and the 1900 census Charles and Margaret weren't married until August or September of 1887. Martha's 1881 birth is a mystery that no one can seem to answer. In the obituaries of more than one of the children of Charles and Margaret, Margaret is listed as being Margaret Hughes instead of Margaret Rainer. Charles V. Graham could have been her second husband. I just don't know. Robert Graham Hello, I'm looking at you submission to the Ancestry World Tree Project. The Charles Graham, b. July 1857 is my great grandfather. He is not, though the son of Luther Graham. He is the son of Robert Graham and Mahala Riley. Robert Graham was born somewhere in Pennsylvania April 15, 1824 and was the son of John Graham. Nothing is known about John or Robert's mother. Mahala Riley Graham was the daughter of Nathan Riley and Mary Ensminger. Nathan Riley was born in Pennsylvania in 1792 and Mary " Polly " Ensminger was born in Pennsylvania about 1796. There were nine children born to Robert and Mahala Graham. Mahala was born at Barnesville, Ohio in Belmont County. Robert and Mahala and family lived in Monroe and Noble Counties in Ohio and are buried near Summerfield in Noble County. I and my cousin can provide you with more information on this family. What do you know about Luther Graham? I know nothing but he could be connected to Robert somehow. Robert had to have lived in Belmont County in order to meet and marry Mahala at Barnesville. Charles Valentine Graham's son Samuel, b. November 25, 1887 is my grandfather. He and John Wilford are twin brothers.
