Note: t VNA Hospice House after a prolonged illness. Mr. Mercier was born Oct. 23, 1936, in Palmer, Mass., and moved to Vero Beach 17 years ago from his birthplace. He was an engineer at Munson State Hospital, Palmer, for 16 years. He was employed as the maintenance supervisor for the Council on Aging, Vero Beach. Mr. Mercier was a member of the New Beginnings Church, Vero Beach, and was involved coaching Little League in Palmer for many years. He was a U.S. Marines veteran of the Korean War. Surviving are his wife of 12 years, Barbara; sons William Mercier, of Melbourne, Steven Mercier, of Agawom, Mass., and John Mercier, of Palmer; daughter Kathy Massey, of Palmer; stepsons, Rusty Lupo, of Vero Beach, and James Lupo, of Mansville, Ohio; stepdaughters Susan Bracewell, of St. Cloud, Theresa Shoyer, of Louisville, Tenn.; stepdaughter Robbie Faye Garrett, of Vero Beach, and Tammy Wilson, of Fellsmere; brother Louis Mercier, of Three Rivers, Mass.; sisters Dorothy Lamery, of Palmer, Patricia Severage, of Munson, Mass., and Jerri Olson, of Palmer; 25 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. SERVICES: Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the New Beginnings Church with the Rev. Robbie Stalvey officiating. Interment will follow in Winter Beach Cemetery, Winter Beach.
