 As far as I can determine, the name Cosgriff is one variant of the Irish name Coscraigh (Cosgraigh) meaning "victorious." The variants Coskry, Coskrey, Coskery, Croskery, McCosker, McCusker are found also in Scotland and the northern part of Ireland. Today, the most common forms in Ireland are Cosgrave and Cosgrove.
  In the Massachusetts Vital Records database, marriage record for John and Mary Russell, John's parents are listed as Charles and Mary; Mary's parents are listed as Frank and Lucy.
