a. Note:   ar Autryville. There they operated a shingle mill for several years. This was during World War I. Oscar met Nolia Etta Autry whose father farmed and ran a little store about a mile from Autryville. They married and went on their honeymoon by train to Raleigh. They lived in what they called a 'shanty' near the shingle mill. Floyde their first child was born there. Oscar and John Richardson moved back to Moore County and settled in Jackson Springs. They purchased a peach farm that was named "Lakeside Peach Company" They also ran a general store and garage there. Soon they decided to separate their businesses admirably. Oscar got the store and garage and John the peach farm. Oscar eventually got out of the store. he extended credit to many people who traded with him but could not or would not pay him. During the continuing "Great Depression" he drove a school bus and later worked at Sandhills Furniture Company in West End and then Grier Furniture Company at Aberdeen. Oscar died on Father's Day 6-9-1955. He was 64 years old.
