a. Note:   dleman NC. He attended Randleman Schools. When a young teenager he left home ans supported himself with various jobs. One of the most interesting was his employment with a man knnown as "Piggy" Allred a pig farmer. Mr. Allred provided his workers mostly young boys with room and board and a small salary. At night he locked the boys in to insure their attendance at work the next day. As he grew up Penn had many occupations. He always seemed to have a truck and did haulig jobs of all sorts. He hualed all the rock for the beautiful First Baptist Church in Randleman. His son Richard worked right along with his on this job which started in 1946 and went on until 1950. The rock came from Farmer NC.
