Note: Steven was born in Houston, Tx. at Southeast Memorial Hospital. Delivered by Dr. Robert Griffon. Michael, Donna Nicodemus and I (His grandmother Peggy Yalch Long) were there in the delivery room. His mother, Lenore had him natural childbirth. He was plump and had very light hair. He was a wonderful little boy, always saying what he thought. Sometimes I felt that he was the adult and I was the child. He could talk long before he did. It was like he was saving it all up. On May 16, 1990, he had gone to school that morning. When he got home a little after 11:00 A.M. Mike put him and Amanda in a motor home he was working on,and they were on their way home when the motor home stalled. Mike was unable to start it. A man working for the highway adept. brought him a gallon of gas in an antifreeze container. He primed the engine. It started and then stalled again. He started it again and the engine backfired, ignited the gas that was in the carburetor. The man holding the gas can dropped the gas, spilling it all over the motor home, Mike and the kids. The man jumped out and the motor home rolled down onto a grassy field. Mike got to the back, picked up Amanda, broke out a window after kicking and kicking. When the air hit the inside of the motor home it exploded. Mike handed Amanda to a woman. He was unable to get Steven out. Amanda had 1st and 2nd. degree burns over 8 % of her body. Mike had 2nd. and 3rd. degree burns over 40% of his body. They were both in critical condition. Amanda stayed in Herman Hospital for one week. Michael stayed 3 weeks. It was a miracle he survived. This changed our lives for ever. We lost the most precious little boy. Now he is with our Father in Heaven.
