Note: [072819~1.FTW] A disasterous drought occurred in Scarborough in 1762. This was one reason a large number of families from Scarborough joined a company that subsequently founded the new town of Machias in 1763. In 1765, other Scarborough familes followed, including that of Joseph Seavey. That was probably the reason that Sarah and her husband also left to settle in Machias. (History of Cumberland County, p. 366)
