Note: Charles, by all accounts, was beloved by his family and many friends. He was the only boy in the family, and the youngest child; his sisters spoiled him. Despite this doting, he grew up to be a great man. He and his wife, Sylvia "Nettie" Reed Rhode were said to be the most popular couple in the area because of Charlie's generous, friendly and engaging manner and Nettie's beauty, sweetness and ability to cook!! Ronald Carr, the great-grandson of Charles' sister Elizabeth Lillis May Rhode Stotts Copsey, went to visit his great-grand-uncle and aunt in 1942 when he was six years old, along with his aunt, Mary Elizabeth Carr Orsinger. Ron remembers playing with Charles' grandson, Forrest Rhode II, who was near his age. He remembers the fun he had, as he and Forrest played on the farm and down by the creek on the property. He also remembers Nellie's good food!
