a. Note:   According to the 1900 census, Warren Co., Indiana, Joseph Thomas Cobb says that his father, William, was born in North Carolina and his mother, Allice Rhode, was born in South Carolina. Tabor (Iowa) Beacon - 19 Apr 1895 Cobb, William, died at the home of his son Thomas Cobb on Sunday night, 7 Apr 1895 about 11 o'clock, lacking but a few months of being 90 years old. His exact age is 89 years nine months 14 days. He was married to Alice Rhode 63 years ago. This was a happy marriage, and lasted until about seven years ago when the wife died. To this union nine children were born, three of whom survive: Thomas, at whose home the aged father died, Pine Valley, Indiana; John, who lives near Rainsville, Indiana and Elizabeth Williams, who lives at Tabor, Iowa. John and Thomas were at the bedside constantly during the last illness of their father. Rev. D. A. Rogers had the services at his residence, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Quaker Cemetery, four miles south of Pine Valley, Indiana.
