Note: Horace Bowen SHELBY � Mr. Horace Wilbur �Chub� Bowen, 75, of 142 Pearl Drive, died Monday, June 28, 2004, at Spartan-burg (S.C.) Cancer Center. Born in Cleveland County, he was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors. He worked in the textile industry and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willliam T. and Marcella Bowen; his wife, Martha Stroup Bowen; and 12 brothers and sisters. He is survived by a son, Horace Michael �Mike� Bowen and wife, Lynn, of Gaffney, S.C.; four daughters, Sandra Phillips of Shelby, Jeanette Chandler and husband, Butch, of Lawndale, Brenda Zimmerman and husband, Danny, of Rockwell and Linda Crouse of Lincolnton; a brother, Quinn Bowen of Grover; nine grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. The funeral will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Fredrick Memorial Gardens on Highway 11 in Gaffney. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at the funeral home.
