He enlisted MAY 10 1862 and on OCT 20 1863, was promoted to sergeant, became a prisoner of war at Fort Stedman, Virginia. Was released from Point Lookout, Maryland on JUN 11 1865. Occupation: Cotton ginnier, miller, farmer. Lived in Grover, at junction of New Prospect Church Road and NC Why #18, where he was instrumental in the organization of the Ross Grove Baptist Church in 1881.
