Agnes purchased 160 acres each from her Brothers Edd and Mach for $2.50 per acre after her husband Isaiah Franklin Porter passed away. According to the story that she told her grandson Tom Porter. Agnes also stated that she had an older sister that died at birth while her mother and father were crossing the Mississippi River. Agnes was a member of the Woodmen of the World. Her grandson Tom Porter has her WOW membership pin.
