Note:   Find A Grave Memorial# 9084058 George W Davis, Green�s Company, Thompson�s Regiment, Missouri State Guard--There are over 336 Confederate soldiers from the Civil War buried at Fairview Cemetery, Van Buren, Arkansas. George Washington Davis is one of the soldiers buried there. He marched with Sterling Price from Missouri to Arkansas and died in the Van Buren Hospital. Notes by Mark Eckermann from FindAGrave.com: "Died in action as a soldier for the Confederate States of America. Private, Company F, 4th Missouri Volunteer Infantry Regiment-CSA Served with Green's Company, Thompson's Regiment, Missouri State Guard, CSA. A Missouri State Soldier's database records check revealed that George Davis had been a Private in "Company A, Shelby's Regiment". He had Participated in the Battle of Pea Ridge, where he was wounded and died at Peach Orchard Gap, Arkansas. Note: Peach Orchard Gap was the original name for the Town of El Paso, Arkansas (located in White County) and the 4th Missouri Infantry was involved in the Battle of Pea Ridge (also known as the Battle of Elkhorn Tavern). It should also be noted that the captain of Company F, 4th Missouri Volunteer Infantry Regiment from March - November 1862 (during the time Davis was in that unit) was Henderson P. Green. Note: This was one of the companies that comprised the regiment commanded by Colonel Gideon W. Thompson and this regiment had been attached to General Joseph O.
