Note: Find A Grave Memorial# 42566994 James died while serving in the Civil War. The following taken from records found at the Adjt. General's office in Jefferson City, MO. James W. Davis and his brother Thomas H. both enlisted at Ozark, Missouri on Dec 14 1861,in Co. F, 4th Regiment of Infantry Volunteers, C.S.A. as privates. Thomas H. Davis was wounded and left at Springfield, Mo, Feb. 12, 1862, (no age given) James W. Davis, age 19, saw almost three years of active duty. "Engaged at Iuka, Corinth, Hatchie Bridge, where wounded, captured, exchanged. Grand Gulf, Port Gibson, Big Black, Vicksburg, Georgia Campaign of 1864, Allatoona, Tilton. Killed in the Battle of Franklin, Tenn. November 30, 1864 "a better soldier never lived".
