Died of exhaustion at daughter-in-law's, Grace Carillon, wife of Paul Lee Carillon Death certificate (as reported by son Lewis) states his birthdate is March 15, 1843 Birth: Feb. 27, 1842 Les Aynans Departement de la Haute-Sa�ne Franche-Comt�, France Death: Mar. 23, 1929 Barberton Summit County Ohio, USA Jean Baptist Carillon was born Feb 27, 1842, in Les Aynans, Haute-Sa�ne, France,a small town 20 miles from Paris, at ten in the evening. (This is the birth date on his birth and marriage record although one obit shows a birth date of Oct 1, 1842) He was the son of Germain Carillon age 35, a cobbler, living in Les Aynanas and his wife Francoise Ducret, age 31. He was married to Francoise Eugenie Oval on June 12th 1867. He was 25 and a wheelwright, Eugenie was 20. He served in the Franco-Prussian War 1870-1871. He immigrated to America, departing France on the ship ST Laurent and arriving in New York on July 1, 1880. His wife Eugenie and 5 sons followed a year later. He declared his intention to become a citizen on Aug 15th, 1888, and took the oath of allegiance on Nov 3rd 1890. He lived in Holmes county, Mechanics township, near Millersburg and latter in Summit Co, Coventry Township, near Barberton. He worked as a cabinet maker. He died in March 23, 1929 in Barberton, Ohio at the home of his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Paul (Grace) Carillon, aged 86 yrs, 5 mos, and 22 days. His wife preceded him in death, also two children Edward and Paul, three sons remain, Charles of Applecreek, Eugene of Bedford, and Louis of Akron. He lived alone since the death of his wife until taken sick in December, where he was taken to Mrs. Paul Carillon�s who tenderly cared for him. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 27, 1929 at the home of Grace Carillon by the Rev. McConnely, and he was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery in Millersburg, Ohio.
