Note:   As reported in the newspaper on Thursday, January 1, 1880: DEVOURED BY HOGS - Information comes to us that on Saturday evening last, John Donley, a well-to-do and respected farmer of Ripley township, aged about seventy years, went out to feed a lot of hogs, and no returning in resonable time sarch was made for him by teh family and resulted in finding his mangled remains in teh hog-pen. His face was eaten off, his heart torn out and the body was otherwise mutilated beyond recognition. Deceased is said to at one time have a light attack of paralysis, and it is believed that he was stricken with paralysis and then attacked by the hogs.
